Are you competent to provide health and safety services to your business? Do you employ someone who is?
If the answer to both of the above questions is no, you could hire a consultant on an ad hoc basis to deal with problems as they arise but it may be more efficient and cost effective to have someone who calls in on a regular basis. You will still have managerial responsibility but that ‘someone else’ can help to make sure that you keep on top of, and up to date with, health and safety.
Important health and safety legislation includes:
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998;
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998;
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999;
- Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002; and,
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
